  • News at Seven is freakin’ awesome! I’ve been a fan ever since I read about it when JJ Sutherland blogged about it at NPR.org.

How can I increase the chances that my blog commentary is used during the newscast?

  • Although the interface and text-to-speech is a bit sluggish, this is, quite posibly, the most creative an useful application of limited AI and autonomous software I have seen (except possibly auto landing on airplanes). While the “real” anchors of our traditional news broadcasts are not likely to be replaced, I would be surprised if we didn’t see more of this type of programming in more places than just the net. Keep up the good work and don’t forget to take care of your robots, they’re people too… kinda,

  • Hi guys,

Thanks for the time and great demo’s today. I am definitely in to what you have done and see great potential moving forward.

On a separate note, YouTube is slow (maybe a hosting problem) - perhaps a different hosting solution should be explored.

    Take care, Bruce

  • Hi all! real nice work, congrats. Any plans to put other characters or/and views to introduce the news? How about satirical/sarcastic comments protagonized by the “monsters” and robots of the game?

  • I just want to say that this is quite possibly the most amazing school project I have ever seen.

Do you plan on releasing the mod? I told some of my A\V teachers about it and they sounded intrested in doing something like this for our “Morning Show”.

  • One other thing, are you ever going to change the “Robotic” voices? Just get some students to do it.

  • This is cool. I’m the first one to leave a comment on this new website?
How exciting. This is a great website and a great idea. I’m going to tell everyone! This site with computer video game style characters giving the news could attract young people to start caring about world events - I usually don’t watch the news on TV because its so boring and because of snide remarks and hidden agenda of the journalists giving the report - the blogisphere comment/man on the street character, is a very smart idea, but I’m not sure I trust the opinion expressed in the blogisphere, as being the opinion of the masses or of an educated select few who are considered to be the experts pertaining to the subject matter discussed, nevertheless, I look forward to developments such as online interactive news based websites such as this…we all know that the internet will replace Television soon enough, but try giving the two CG characters a more exciting programmed voice, this is essential, as it is true that newscasters are generally boring and put the public to sleep - give the femal CG character a “mona lisa smile,” some movement and personality and you’ve got yourself a great website. Keep up the good work.

  • Interesting idea, but where is the content ? One would expect an automated system to display current data, but the site is stale with entries over seven days old.

  • I really like the website. It looks clean and professional. The color schemes blend very well, however the use of youtube is kinda not blending with the colors. The video is appearing dark. I think what you can do is overlay the video on a background similar to that of the headers but rounded-rectangle. I guess you get it but if you don’t feel free to email me at

    Thanks,
    Have a Happy Holidays
